Can't say I blame you, on either count <g> But the bit where he says he's ready to publish a book of his patterns doesn't mention diagrams; it says: "desription of working methods"... And, Polish lacemakers (irrespective of gender or technique) aren't altogehter comfortable with diagrams; they tend to be some 25-30 yrs behind in that respect.

OTOH, he does mention a Japanese tatting book and, although I don't have it, I understand the diagrams in it are excellent. So he's familiar with them. And, when explaining his method of maintaining uniformity (no right/wrong sides -- he puts the picots in the *middle*, between the two halves of a stitch), he does use some drawings (see "Metoda Jana" on the website), though they seem to me to be fairly sketchy, meant more as illustrations to the text, than to be self-explanatory.

So, who knows wht the book's going to be like? At any rate, since there seems to be enough interest in it and in his patterns, I'll be writing to him (sometime in the near future but, probably, not before I come back from Ithaca) offering myself as a translator, both for the website and for the book. I'll keep y'all informed as to what -- if anything -- happens.

Yours, with a suddenly selective mailbox; not only do I not see my own postings on the list (got used to *that* in the two -- or so -- months of being deprived <g>), but today I only saw about half of those from the others, on either lace or chat. Thank goodness for Avital and her lace and lace-chat archives... :)
