Hi out there in Lacingland, Well...today is Wednesday and I thought it was time to send my report of the Ithaca Lacing Event. First of all I had loads of fun. This year I went to the event with a little bit of a different feeling than the other years. You see this year I did the commemorative bobbins for the event. It is sometimes hard to judge your own work and would people be interested in spending money for something that you did. I did 80 bobbins total for the event and I understand that there is one left of the bunch. So I guess that went good. My fellow guild members were happy about it and so am I. The event started for me with Saturday morning. I walked into the vending room and was overwhelmed with all that I saw at once. Lots of vendors and lots of people everywhere...and WOW the lace display was great. I took many pictures...and I mean many pictures of display and everything...must have at least 200 pictures to go through...which I finally got around to down loading from my camera this morning to my computer so I could get a better look. My digital camera is a new toy for me and I guess I need to learn how to use the 6X zoom and macro lens better. I will have to work on that...but most of my pictures turned out great. Let me say here that those that want a picture sent to them that were in my Milanese class please send me an email and I will send one to you via email. Also while I am talking about emails...please note that the email address that was listed in your packet for me was wrong...my email address is: [EMAIL PROTECTED] There is no r at the end of celticdreamweave. Just for your information....Now moving right along here....I took the Milanese Lace class with Pat Read. She was a wonderful teacher. I know that I have sometimes read about reports of how people should grade teachers and so on...Well she gets an A+A+A+A+ from me. She was very relaxed ( at least she seem to be to me) and soft spoken with a whole lot of patience. By the way Jacquie....could you give Pat a message the next time you see her and tell here the person I was talking about that sent me an email was you. I couldn't for the life of me remember your name. And yes Jacquie she was great!!!! Pat had brought some of her lace pieces that are going to be in her next book. There is a new dragon that will be in there....And it is so cool looking too. Love Milanese!!!! The Banquet was great with lots and lots of food. The cake was yummy!! For the banquet I wore my dark green made in India outfit and my newly designed just finished tatted hat. It was great to sit with the lacers that were at my table. Such a friendly bunch of creativity there. I was surprised by the pointing out of me who was responsible for doing the commemorative bobbins and I am sure I blushed red. I had to stand up and be noticed too. Gosh!! LOL!! But getting back to the vending room....it was hard to get all my pictures taken that I wanted (for I can't remember a darn thing...and I wanted to) spend what little money I had with me, visit and so on before the lecture and slide show with Pat Read started which was very interesting to me since I was taking that workshop...lucky me!!! At the banquet we got to hear another lecture by Pompi Perry. I had to put on my goggles for this one so I could see the slides for I was way in the back. Hate wearing my glasses. Anyhow ...she was very interesting and on Monday I went to her classroom and looked at some Blonde and Polychrome de Courseulles lace that she had on display...so much beauty...but then I think all lace is beautiful. That is just me ;) Another treat for me was meeting Tamara Duvall !!!!I have of coarse seen pictures of her work on the internet and have been in awe of everything she has created. I got to see some of her lace with my own eyes and the pictures on the internet or the IOLI Bullentin do not do the lace justice. Her laces just simmers and sparkles. You do not see that in a picture but you can with your own eyes. If I could just do some lace like that I would be one VERY HAPPY LACER. :) Thank you so much for taking the time to share with me. And also for giving me your two bobbin booklet. It was so nice of you!! Tamara, I will send you a email later on. Anyhow...in my Milanese class I was able to finish my Milanese piece but I am doing it over again in different colors and right I hope this time. I got lost in doing the filling of my piece so I have to do it again till I get it right.....that is just me. But I think one of the best thing I loved about the event was meeting new people and talking about with others with like minds....their love of lace...
