The message I intended to send (only once) follows: I love my brass pins!! When I first learned to make lace, I lived in England. That was 21 years ago. As I prepared to return to the states (humid Florida by the way), I started buying lace supplies so that I would be set after I returned. I bought several boxes of different sized brass pins. They are still the pins I use and after trying some stainless steel ones, they are still the pins I prefer. I think one of the reasons I will use them as long as I can is that they add to the "wonder" of a lacemaking pillow with a piece of lace in progress. When I have demonstrated lacemaking, people always are fascinated with the way the whole pillow looks. They ooh and aah over the bobbins, the lace, the pillow....and the pins. I can't count the times I have been asked where did I ever find my "gold" pins!! I ask you...where else do people get to enjoy working with "gold" pins these days. In my own opinion the trick to solving pins rusting in the lace is to keep making something...don't store a pillow for too long with lace on it. I enjoy making lace. It makes me happy. One of the reasons is that it looks so pretty when I take off the cover cloth and get ready to begin.
