Dear Carolyn, T and Lace Friends, Hey, the bobbins in the pictures are like my very first "clonking Bobbins" ! <VBG>. Pity I don't live anywhere near any of these people :-(
The gals at Coats, Bangalore, refer to BL as "Pin Lace", rather than bobbinlace. Maybe how the original Belgian referred to it (??). Frankly, I doubt it . . . Tamara dear, don't portray me as being so philanthropic <g>. Domestic staff here don't get paid by the hour, they get paid by the work (they come in daily and do the dishes, the clothes and the floor) . .doesn't matter how few/more the dishes/clothes are. Everything gets done by 9.00 am before I go off to work, so there is no time during their working hours to teach anything <g>. My maid Urmila liked the Romanian Point I was making, and wanted to make a butterfly. She was so keen , I made her choose the colours from my shade card and got her the thread etc. She comes in Sunday afternoons, the only time we are both free, so learn how to do it :-). She has been with me for 17 years now, have seen her through the birth of one child and the death of another - she is like family, so of course I don't charge her for lessons . . Besides she couldn't afford me, nobody can, especially if I charge anything like the mandays cost we charge at work :-) . When her butterfly is finished, I'll put up a picture on my website.
