DH just called me down to watch a piece on the tv about a small village where the young women were making crochet lace thongs. The older lacemakers were up in arms about them using the traditional patterns that they use for church ardornments for wearing "on their bare bottoms". The local priest, wearing a completely crocheted garment, said he thought it would be uncomfortable to wear next to the skin as the lace was coarse. A male worker who was interviewed said he was against it at first but now his wife earns more than he does so he sees nothing wrong with it. The lace thongs did look very nice and the final shot was of a thong displayed in a house window. I missed the beginning of the piece but DH believed it was a small village south of Prague called Kornikov or something similar. Janice
