Dear Spiders, Here is a Christmas Tale to believe or not. For some twenty years we lived in a house built in 1610-'20. Although my husband and I never saw them, our two daughters both said that they had seem people in the house dressed in old fashioned costumes. In one case a man sitting at my dressing-table and the other a family. Occasionally one would feel that someone was watching over your shoulder or had passed by in the house. We always said that since they had come back after death they must have been happy living in it and therefore one should not be afraid of them, but welcome them .
After being in the house for some years we decided to remove the Victorian alterations. In one wall as we went back to the orginal laths and plaster we found a small key - put in as a good luck charm. So when we replaced the plaster we included a Sawbridgeworth 10th anniversay bobbin, a lace bookmark and details of who we were. Hopefully sometime in the future, they will be found and add to the history of the house.
So from a very dull Sawbo', compliments of the season to one and all, and hoping that we will really have a peaceful New Year. Sheila and Alan
