I haven't been to Bowes Museum, but in May my husband and I visited Sudley Castle. Their lace collection was quite beautiful and each piece had a detailed description of each item, in my opinion it was worth the trip. Unfortunately, they didn't have any written information at the museum on the lace collection and just a small reference on their website. The collection is call "The Lace and Times of Emma Dent". The castle is located in the Cotswolds in the town of Winchcombe just north of Cheltenham.
