Hi, everyone, I am doing a wide edging with cotton and a rough silk gimp. I use Midlands, but I used continentals for the gimp, because I needed a lot of thread on, and Midlands were too thin. It looks gorgeous, but I noticed that my gimp thread gets a bit funny, because the bobbins keep rolling on the pillow and I lose the twist. Does anyone know a bobbinmaker in Australia who makes those German bobbins which have a wooden "cap" to protect the thread? I can't use pieces of straw, as Lenka taught us for wire lace, they are too small for my bobbins, and I can't think of anything else which would curl up nicely and which I could use.I think owning a few German bobbins would be nice, anyway, :-))
I would like to buy at least 2 pairs of German bobbins, so if any lacemaker has them and would be interested in swapping for Australian wood bobbins, either Midlands, or round or square continentals, I would be happy to do a swap with them instead of buying from a supplier.
