A few days ago, someone remarked that there were a lot of "unknown" teachers at this year's IOLI Conference, and they did not seem to approve. Well, all the "known" teachers were unknown once upon a time! Being "unknown" does not mean they cannot teach. Quite the oppoiste - they may be very good teachers, but they have not written a book, or travelled around much. These "unknowns" are the backbone of the craft, and work hard at grass-roots level, and without them the craft would flounder and die out. On the other side - just because someone has written a book, and been overseas, does not necessarily make them a good workshop tutor. So, Please, - give the newcomers a "Fair Go". Fresh ideas, and new faces, should be welcomed.
