I use a digital camera in the production of my books. My camera is now a few years old, but was the top of the line camera when I bought it. It allows me to photograph quite close for fine details and has settings for a variety of environmental settings. I can also set the images to various digital settings, from the very basic for email to the finest detail.
I was quite fortunate when I purchased the camera to be talking with a salesman who actually knew something about photography--something I find rare these days. I bought a product that several years down the road, I can still get a battery replacement when the original dies.-- Something to think about. My camera also has a memory stick, in fact I have a couple, as my DH's handheld also uses the same memory stick. In this way I can fill up a memory stick and pop in a second. I hope this is helpful.
