When I was in high school my mother had a tall whatnot shelf in the corner of the kitchen. A visiting baby decided that it looked like a ladder, and was captured just barely in time to prevent a major disaster. Mother screwed an eye bolt into the back of the cupboard and put a screen-door hook into the woodwork in case it happened again. Egad.
