I have also gotten CDs from Tess, and mine came through in perfect condition. I wonder if there are packaging options which would withstand the abuses which broke the few that didn't survive. My point is that perhaps the extra $1.10 would be better spent on insurance and let the Postal Service pay for any broken ones!
