Thanks for giving that website, JulieO, it confirmed my suspicions that the books I read as I was a child in France, which had Caroline Quine as the author, and a heroine named Alice (can't remember her surname) are in fact the French version of Carolyn Keene and Nancy Drew!! I worked as a Children's Librarian in Melbourne for 10 years without ever twigging to that fact!! Well, never had the urge to read any of them in English, although I did discover and adored the Anne of Green Gables series and the Little Prairie books, and also the Oxenham series The Abbey Girls, which I commandeered for my own when we threw them out of the library as too old-fashioned (just missing 2 titles, but I refuse to pay 30 Pounds for them, which is what they quoted me in England a few years ago...).
