"point ground" lace.

the styles of bobbin lace which was made in many countries of Europe during
the 19th century.  Each nation's variant has its own name, and there are
slight stylistic, and some technical differences.  But overall they all use
a set of common techniques, which are necessitated by the very loose ground
usually used, called "point ground".
