Hello Gentle Spiders,
Everything seems to work in threes today... :) Had 3 lace messages and 3 personal ones on the puter (before the sudden "uncorking" about 15 minutes ago, which dribbled in another 3) and 3 in s-mail. All 3 s-mails were lace-related: Moravia linen from Susan Wenzel, new ('04) book catalogue from Barbara Fay, and the latest issue (#22) of La Encajera.
This last also had a reminder that my subscription was about to expire -- #23 will be my last issue -- and I should renew, if I didn't want to miss any... Well, I've enjoyed the magazine for the past few years, so I looked at the renewal terms and *gasped*.
The price of a single issue, printed on the cover (which, I assume, means that it's available "off a stand", as well as through subscription, at least in Spain), is 5 Euro. The subscription form is for 6 issues (used to mean one year, but now means about 3; it's no longer published as regularly as it had been). So, OK, 5x6 is 30, add the postage and... The total is (for countries outside Europe)... *97 Euros*... Incredible... Not only does it bring the price of a single issue to over 16 Euro (I don't want to think what it might be in US dollars <g>), but the cost of shipping is more than twice the price of the goods being shipped...
That "saves" me some serious money which, maybe, I should invest in the PO :)
But that's how *all* my day has been... By now, I'm meaner than a rattlesnake woken up from a digestive nap :)
