Here's what I've been doing last week: http://www.sandbenders.demon.co.uk/gallery/lizard.htm for my friend's impending baby. The T shirt was dyed once for each colour. The lace is a very simple pattern from a folder by Clare Burkhard of animals. The lizard is in whole stitch, with the outlines in cloth stitch and twist. The body takes 6 pairs, with 3 pairs being added for each leg. I used Bockens 35/2 linen, which I just happened to have in a blue that exactly matched one of the dye colours.
Now in progress a big orange fish from the same pattern folder to go on a mainly blue shirt. After that, then the bootees from "Lapsia Nyplaten" (Children in Bobbin Lace), p64, by Eva Lisa Kortelahti, that Alice Howell recommended to me. -- For NASA, space is still a high priority.
