I would like to add my Contratulations to all those wonderful lacemakers who won trophies at the Exhibition. The standard is SO high. I was awarded a Medal of Excellence for my needlelace (traditional - a Gros Point flower spray), and I am absolutely "Over the Moon" about it. To have my work recognised in that sort of company is quite amazing, and I feel very honoured.
How ever the judges managed to choose the John Bull Trophy winner from those entries shown on the Guild web site, I don't know! It must have been a very difficult task. I am constantly amazed at the inventiveness of lacemakers, and the fantastic ideas they have to fit into themes. What idea I had in my head, I could not get down onto paper, so eventually I "went traditional"!
