I realize Yahoo's own instructions about their groups are highly confusing and can seem very intimidating to a newcomer. One point that seems to have confused lots of potential applicants is that to be a member of a Yahoo group you need to have a Yahoo *ID* and a Yahoo *profile*--even if the profile is mostly blank--but you do *NOT* need a Yahoo e-mail address! I also believe even if you have signed up for a Yahoo e-mail address you can still change the address you have the group's e-mails sent to a non-Yahoo address-- I think Robin Panza has done this, for example (hopefully she's received the A7 messages that are beginning to circulate at her desired address!).
Anyone who still wants to join A7 and doesn't feel comfortable with the signup process is welcome to e-mail me privately and I'll be happy to get things sorted out, including creating a Yahoo ID for you if desired. We're going to wait a week or so before starting to debate issues seriously, but the conversation has begun.... All the best, Sue (*not* in Raleigh, NC at the moment, and with unusually limited Internet access as a result--but having a nice time anyway....)
