Hi All, When I hear Chantilly I always think of shawls but maybe the piece that got patched is smaller than that. If possible stand back and look at the whole piece and it many not show up when your eyes are looking at the big picture.
As Clay wrote there is something to be said for having the patch show. I'll take a moment to mention Elizabeth Kurella's book "Anyone Can Mend Lace and Linens". It's got lots of information on mending all kinds of lace. I especially like all the common sense! I used to mend things very firmly only to find the rest of the piece was not that strong.
