Yes, Tamara, we have that problem here in Oz.
The Sydney Royal Easter Show no longer has any lace sections in the show.
Here in Melbourne, we have only 5 classes-
Novice, Needlelace, Tatting, Torchon, and Any Other Lace. Judging Honiton
against Beds, Bucks, Milanese, or any other type must be well nigh
impossible!

It is so hard to get folks to enter. I judge, quite often, at a nearby
Show, and there are 4 classes, and usually 4 or 5 entries in each Tatting
class, with 7 or 8 in the Continuous Bobbin lace class, but only a couple of
entries in the Sectional Bobbin Lace class.

I too, enjoy going around looking at the other crafts - Quilting,
Faberge-type eggs, embroidery, etc.

I enter 3 shows each year - so try to do my bit!! I enter the Royal
Melbourne show in Sept, the Royal Darwin show (just had my lace returned),
and the Colorado State Fair - which was judged on Sunday - but I don't know
the results yet!
