Hi All, I thought "mixed" was the term already used for mixed lace as in Mixed Brussels (not mixed-up Brussels <G>). But I guess that's for a mix of NL and BL, not Flanders and Honiton or whatever of two BLs.
Anyway, I got into the Point de Gaze class with Irma Osterman in Ithaca, New York in a month. I'm quite excited! I got my threads already and they look SO thin! We'll be using Brok 100 on the intermediate pattern. I'm taking plenty of lights and magnifiers <G>. I have been reading up on PdG needlelace and was curious why they don't closely buttonhole the cordonnet. Then I found I have a piece of Mixed Brussels! So I looked at it with a magnifier and it looks lovely. I can see the spaced buttonhole stitching on the cordonnet and the net - reseau? - with an extra twist on the R to L (or L to R?) row. Finally I looked at it with my naked eyes and I can't see a thing except how lovely it is <G>. I can't see anything but the line of the cordonnet. Of course that makes me think of an exquisite tie end I saw in a lace ID course. We were all studying this beautiful piece of lace but whoever wore it had it all bunched up at his neck so no one could see the exquisite detail!
