Hi All,

Just to let you know that Liz "the resident expert..." as Tamara kindly
referred to her, will be unsubscribed for a couple of weeks, as she's
hung up the 'Gone Fishin' shingle. You will be happy to know that while
she sits in the boat for hours on end with my Dad, she will have some
quilting with her, and some NL and BL back at their camp site, so her
fingers will not be idle :-) I will be picking off anything of interest
for her, and sending it on privately.

And for Catherine Barley: I just love your comment - ... please
yourself all of the time. That is so true when it comes to lacemaking
(or crafts in general). Thank you so much for reaffirming the
permission to do that - and to be selfish in that regard. There are so
many times when we do things to try to please others, that we forget to
please ourselves, first and foremost.

I'm enjoying this thread on mixed lace. Haven't had the courage to
tackle NL and BL in the same piece (I'll leave that to the expert :-) ),
but I have done some NL (not very well) and I like my BL - especially
when I can do more than just admire it. What fascinates me is how
designers marry the 2 types of lace in a cohesive design, and then how
the lacemaker/s execute/s that design. Most intriguing - and skillful.

Cheers,
Helen, Aussie in Denver, and Liz's daughter.
