Hi everyone I have two Ott-lites (to Dorte - invented by a chap named Ott) - the floor model with its heavy base, and the table model that flips up to turn on. I use both if the ambient light isn't enough to prevent shadows on the pillow. The floor lamp is on one side of me, and the table lamp on the other - as if you were in the middle of a photo session <g>. These full-spectrum lights by Ott are cheaper to buy from a stationery store, than from a needlework shop. I don't do needlelace, so can't advise as to using an Ott-lite for same. bye for now Bev in Sooke, BC (west coast of Canada)
