My DH worked in pneumatic controls. There is flexible tubing available at most hardware
(Home Depot/Lowe's) stores. The connector is called a coupling and in about 3/4 in'
long.
The connector fits tightly (it can have a slightly barbed end) but can be sanded on
each end to make the fit a little loose. These couplings might also be available with
aquarium equipment.

<The plastic tubing is not glued together. The fastener is just
inserted. What has been mentioned was wood doweling. At the Cantu
class I
attended, they used a piece of pipe cleaner as the fastener. It's
flexible
and cheap.
