Did you get any answers to your query? I saw none in the last digest.

No, neither had I but, since Noelene seemed to have answered her own question:

I thought of doing an extra repeat of the pattern and overlapping,

I decided to let it go; my sinuses are still playing very un-celestial music in my head, and both my body and my mind are still misbehaving in most disgusting ways (like my last night's posting about 5 pairs instead of 5 *bobbins. Duh), though the fever seems to be gone for good.

Actually, if you oversew tightly with finer thread than the lace, you'd be surprised at just how flexible and invisible the result can be.

That's absolutely right. "Het lassen" may not be the traditional way of joining Bucks, and it may not be *quite* as reliable/strong as it is on laces which have 4 pairs coming into each pin, but it's still a most excellent join, able to withstand mistreatment (washing). The only way it would be "too bulky" is if a single repeat constituted half or more of your total lace length (ie, half of the edging was double, and half single).

Mimi, your garter is gorgeous; I hope it spells many years of happiness for your sister
