Hi all - all the suppliers are working their socks off to get ready for the
weekend, which probably explains the dearth of replies.
We have only recently set up for taking plastic and the machine we have been
supplied with works over the mobile phone network (Vodaphone actually)
At the moment it has to dial each time, and get a connection but we have been
promised a GSM system anytime soon which will be on all the time ( a bit
like broadband internet) This machine can be used by just putting in the number
and getting the customer to sign the receipt, or by swiping the card
and letting the customer put in their pin (Eric has made a special 'secrecy'
box for it) So far we have had very few using the PIN - the changeover
will take a few more months yet. My own Debit card is now pin and chip but my
Visa isn't yet - that will be changed over the next few months as the
expiry date is quite a way off.
This is our first time at the NEC so please come and say hello - we are right
at the back of the hall facing the food area.
