Good morning, 3rd question - is there a technique for adding beads to a spot on an ornament if I forgot to add them as I was going along? I can't really back track since there is a sewing between where I am now and the part where I'd like to locate a bead. I learned most of them from Lenka Suchanek in one of her wire lace classes. 1. String the beads on the bobbin and move one into place wherever you want to put it. 2. If you want to put beads at the edge of the piece and the working pair changes all the time, unwind your thread and put a bead on the appropriate pair, rewind the thread and work the stitch. 3. In ground or anywhere 2 pairs meet in a stitch, using a crochet hook small enough to go through the bead do a sewing by bring both threads of one pair through the bead and pass both threads of the other pair through the loop. When you tension the sewing, keep it inside the bead. Very neat and the bead seems to float. The sewing takes the place of the stitch that would have been there. 4. Using a passive pair, before working a stitch with the worker, pull a thread through the bead with a crochet hook and make a sewing with the other thread, tensioning to put the sewing inside the bead. 5. This last technique is almost sewing, but is used in wire work quite a bit. To add a series of large beads, use a larger thread or wire, come through an appropriate place in the lace and add a bead, pass the thread or wire through the work to the next place for a bead and add a bead. Usually, there is a series of holes where the large beads are positioned, like through the center of a bracelet. Somtimes the beads are on the edge of the piece, and the larger thread or wire is used to gather the lace in a ruffle.
