Dear Bev, Thanks for all the nice comments. The Roses are framed now in a plain dark brown frame to set off the background mesh, on a beige silk background which makes the whole thing look quite "antique".
I basted each braid in position, then did the sewings where braids touched or overlapped. Then finally the fillings. What is good that you can easily cut away a filling if you don't like the final effect. I do this often, and so its very amenable to experimentation. I try to use shaded thread if it looks good. And of course, I have my favourite fillings. One day, I hope I get the inspiration to come up with my own fillings. :-) I just *love* doing RPL. It is so perfect for me, with all the traveling I'm having to do now. RPL braids can be made anywhere and even the pattern and thread/needles/book are very portable.
