In my lace-identification classes with several different teachers I learned that the so called Vieux Flandres is a 19. cent. produkt and has nothing to do with the Flandres lace from 16. and 17. cent.
Its typical points are: combined needle- and bobbin-lace,
the motives are in linnen- or half-stitch, with decorations of holes,
lots of motives in braid-lace( hand- or machine-made) which form
flowers,
the mesh is made by needle, from "six-corner stitch"
