How narrow? What's the spacing between the edge pins? Is the number of pairs needed for completion provided, and does the tape have straight footsides or the "twist around the pin and go back" ones? All 3 elements (width of the tape, number of passives in the tape, and the distance between pins) will have a bearing on what thread will be the most suitable, with the footside type affecting the overall look a bit also.


But my guess would be that you're expected to use the same thread - ie Bockens 60/2 - as in the Torchon patterns. Russian tape likes to pack the passives tightly together and when things get to be too "constipated", it stretches the distance between the pins, before moving to a finer thread or a smaller number of passives.
