Don't worry about it, Devon. Happens to all of us at some time or other if we 
don't know what's causing it.

The strange marks are the 'curly' quotation marks and apostrophes from Word. If 
you are typing in one program and pasting into an e-mail, it's best to use a 
text editor like Notepad. Unless you set Word to put in 'straight' quotes, it 
will put in curly quotes and these characters are interpreted in strange ways 
by different systems and e-mail programs.

If you're determined to use Word and you want to turn off the curly quotation 
marks, go to Tools > AutoCorrect. Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab. Uncheck 
the "Straight quotes" with "Smart quotes" check box. Click OK.
