Hi everyone I have another query related to the patterns of Idrija lace in the book by Cook and Tratnik - many specify Thread 30 and Thread 40 which would be what, exactly? In the introduction, the authors state "the numbering of cotton thread used in lacemaking is similar worldwide" - thus I would assume that whatever cotton 30 and 40 I can find would suit the pattern. However, there is thread and there is thread ;) I would be interested in hearing from others what cotton threads you used for the patterns in this book.
I am working on the little mat called 'Merry-Go-Round' - I'm using my latest find, Sulky 30 wt. It is v. tight in the cloth stitch area and looks somewhat flimsy in the outer trail. I will make the mat again in another "30" thread (possibly Finca, because I have some). Any input, greatly appreciated ;) Thanks in advance... -- bye for now Bev in Sooke, BC (on a dry, wintry day (in the southwest part) on Vancouver Island, west coast of Canada) Cdn. floral bobbins www.woodhavenbobbins.com - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
