I *haven't* seen the display and don't know which pieces of lace from the Museum of Decorative Art's huge collection are on display, but back in the glory days of great lace books Dr. Moriz Dreger wrote Entwicklungs-Geschichte der Spitze, a combination lace history and portfolio of photographs of lace from what was then called the K.K. Osterreichischen Museums fur Kunst und Industrie in Wien. The lace is magnificient. Fortunately, this work is available to all thanks to Tess and the Professor: http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/books/dm1_lace_1.pdf http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/books/dm1_lace_2.pdf http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/books/dm1_lace_3.pdf http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/books/dm1_lace_4.pdf http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/books/dm1_lace_5.pdf http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/books/dm1_lace_6.pdf
There is also a copy in the Ratti, if you want to see the photographs in greater detail. No idea if it's availble on the used book market, of course! Sue.
