DH was a college lecturer in engineering. The art department put on a display of their student's paintings along a corridor wall. Someone in DH's staff room put a piece of hardboard on a desk and some pots of paint. Each time one of the engineering lecturers passed it, they added a bit of paint. After 3 days, they hung it at the end of the line of paintings in the corridor. Two weeks later when the exhibition was removed, the art department staff were very frustrated at not being able to find which of their students had painted it so that they could be reunited.
