I love your new invention, it's very attractive. You say that it is not stiff enough. Since you added the beads after you had finished, you could try rolling the lace before you beaded. Place the lace between two sheets of kitchen paper and roll over it a couple of times with your rolling pin. This 'tempers' the wire and makes it stiffer. Then you could go on to add the beads. It may be worth a try.
