Hi Noelene, I also purchased this book at the AGM and love working the patterns, I used some fine ribbon with a gold edge and linen 35/2 and enlarged the pattern slightly and it looked OK, but on visiting our local needlework store they had just received a shipment of some very old fashion yarn called rat tail and mouse tail which is very similar to the Tahiti which I should have used. It is actually a very fine knitted tube thread. I can send you some if you would like.
I received the answer below when I asked back in October. I used extra long glass head pins and they also work. Hope you enjoy your piece ----- Original Message ----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, October 26, 2004 4:37 PM Subject: Re: Lace Thread Dear Faye, You asked about Tahiti thread by Novita. Novita is a thread company based in Finland, selling mostly threads for knitting. As far as I could see their web page is only in Finnish. Here is the link for page where their threads are listed. http://www.novita.fi/tuotteet/novita_lankakokoelma/index.html While the thread is listed on the page I could not find it from their colour chart (Blue writing in the first chapter of the page: Tutustu syksyn Novita-vrikarttaan.) The trend threads, I have been told, are not manufactured in Finland (unlike the basic wooled threads like Nalle or 7 veljest) which means that they do change quite quickly (sold only few years I think), but on the other hand you can get exactly same thread with different name from some another country. If you deside to try to get this thread I suggest you to contact Novita. This is an email address for more information: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hope this helps.
