I was taught to scratch out the incorrect line - strangely enough, this was 
not what I was taught by any lacemakers but by my father who was a draughtsman 
- he always gently scratched out the mistaken line (always in one direction) 
to get the indian ink off the parchment then you scratch the card back the 
other way to make it sit flat and redraw the line.
