I have no idea what gremlins in my browser (and at my finger tips perhaps?) despatched this message to lace-chat instead of lace - the person who asked about poly thread is on both lists, I think, and, really, the subject has been covered sufficiently - for the record:
"Although natural fibres are nicer to touch and are the lacemakers preference there is nothing wrong with using polyester thread. I prefer using cotton, but if all I had available was polyester machine sewing thread, and I wanted to make lace - I would use it. The Dual Duty poly from Coats (I think it's from Coats) for machine sewing is quite nice for BL. I like the colour blend of the 'denim blue' of that brand." At the mo' I'm making a motif using Gutermanns' hand quilting thread, which is wiry and less manageable than machine sewing cotton *or* polyester - but once tamed 'in place' in the lace pattern, is v. effective. I now think I will try the next example with poly thread, just for the experiment. bye for now Bev in Sooke, BC (on Vancouver Island, west coast of Canada) Cdn. floral bobbins www.woodhavenbobbins.com - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
