These stars in the original are far too big for wearing on the head, even for front centre of a crown. They are in 80/2 Egyptian cotton with DMC 20 gimp, which is quite fine. Reducing the pricking to a suitable size for a crown would require using gossamer thread that would not take stiffening. The possibility that I can see is to take one of the prickings that is built up in a concentric stripes way and leave off some of the outer layers. A bit of amendment might be needed to produce a neat edge, but that shouldn't be very difficult. I've seen a couple made in white an silver, very attractive. All copies of Sonne, Mond und Sterne sold in English speaking countries ought to come with my translation. If anyone has the book but needs the translation email me privately and I'll send it.
