Hi All, This topic has gotten a bit far from lace but it is appropriate if
you need to check your arachne e-mail when far from home! DH and I had a
fantastic trip to Charleston, South Carolina in mid-March. We stayed at 3
different hotels (we drove). All advertised internet connections but DH had
to get an Ethernet card to use it. All three had wireless connections, two
were free and the hotel in Charleston charged. Actually you connect on-line
to another company, it was something like $10.00/night or $15.95/week.
Since we were there four nights we got it for the week. It worked great!
It kept him entertained and he did let me check my e-mail <G>.

He had specifically not had wireless "stuff" put in his new laptop for
security reasons but wireless was all we found. Other hotels might be
different.

I did see a little lace in Charleston at the city museum. They had an
underwear show and there was Irish Crochet on some pieces and, I think,
Valenciennes (sp?) on others. I think the latter because one book I have
says that was used alot around 1900. From a distance I thought I spotted an
exquisite white lace fan but upon closer inspection it turned out to be
carved ivory - Wow! They had three of those in their collection. It's an
interesting musuem, the collection is built on the collections of what I
think of as Victorian gentleman scientists though they were probably from
different eras. Lots of stuffed and unstuffed birds and animals, jars of
pickled things, shells, bird's eggs and some Egyptian artifacts among other
things.

trees are getting bigger.
