Thanks Jane; I had hoped you would supply it :) I don't get the Sunday Times (on Sundays, we get the Wash. Post) and my last attempt to see things on-line (the fence) was a bust. The two paragraphs do give one an idea of how long it takes for less important "news" to percolate to the Times - the entire story (thongs in traditional techniques, older lacemakers opposition and the religious pressure on the black sheep) had been reported here about a year ago... :)
And I'd like to register an objection to the title of the story on the grounds that no Polish name starts with a V; the V sound is represented by a W (as in German). The letter V is not even a part of the Polish alphabet, though we recognise it from foreign names/words. Vera (Veruschka in diminutive) is a Russian name; Wiktoria would be more likely to appear in Polish than Wiera, if we wanted to make the reference to "Victoria's Secret". And if we wanted to be very Polish indeed, it would probably be Wanda. Or Weronika <g>
