Clay has a good case for an awl. I have looked at it again and if it were a
handle then the handle part would be parallel, but these are tapered, which
probably be suitable for an awl.
I have just stopped writing this email to look through my collection of
resource books and I cant find anything like it in any of them.
It may well not be a sewing tool or sewing trinket at all.
Frankly, I no real idea except that we are all agreed it is nota lace
bobbin.
