I know that from time to time there is a craze amongst lace makers to make these paper bobbins ......... The rare part of it must be that they are for sale. Most of us keep them in the drawer or throw them away?

I have a few bobbins made of paper. One pair is just the size of my Midlands and fits in well for normal use. The others all seem to be a bit too big. It's not the most common form of bobbin, but I believe the technique is known to most lacemakers. It's a good technique for cheap bobbins. If a tiny dowel/meat skewer is used as the base, then it is strong without needing to be thick. Use colorful wrapping paper and you'll have cheery bobbins.

If the beads are authentic to the bobbins, then they may have some age. Personally,I think they were priced too high. (Add the shipping and they were real spendy.) They didn't even list the size of them, or put a ruler in the picture. They could easily be like the too-large ones I already have and can't use.

They may indeed be 'unusual' but the *very very* could be dropped.

Disclaimer -- ALL personal opinion, this time. <G>
Alice in Oregon -- where I just bought a bunch of new bobbins and now have to find some place to store them until they are needed. Does anyone every reach the point where they have 'enough' and quit buying?
