Super idea! I've never felt competent enough to do my own measuring with thread - it's not always uniform, and it's not easy to wind so that the threads *just touch*, without overlapping. And, being obsessive, I also worry that the measurements change depending on tension in winding; thread does stretch, and, when it does, it gets thinner... But wire should be easier (famous last words?), so perhaps, I'll have a go at it (during the Convention week and between the bouts of canning <g>)
