(Forwarded from Antje) Hello all Arachneans, I have an e-friend who comes from Brazil and is also a lacer. I have asked her about the gigantic pins that have been commented a few days ago: she has told me that these large bobbin laces we saw in that website are made in the North East of Brazil and, as this is a very poor region, they use (instead of pins) the thorns of a plant called mandacaru, which is a kind of cactus. She has also sent me an incredible fotograph. I will put it in my web site so that you can have a look at it.
