Hi Tamara,

I think the reason reef knots start with right over left is partly due to
the right handed domination of most of the population, which makes it easier
to remember, get started etc.  So if you start left over right, and follow
up with right over left - it is still a reef knot.

I have never done a Brugge tie off, but I wonder if going the opposite way
would affect how the finished ends lie on the completed lace.  If noone else
knows, then the only option may be to try and see.
