That's what I've been doing; starting on whichever side was going to hide the knots the best. But then I had a moment of panic - what if that's all wrong??? I wouldn't mind being wrong in my own work but, if I decide to publish a pattern which uses the tie-off, I wouldn't want to lead anyone astray :)
