If anyone is interested in Cantu lace, the books and tape recently put
out (2002) by the Accademia Merletti de Amicis are on sale at Halcyon
in Bath, Maine, USA. The book costs $49.95 (was $68.95) and the tape
(also with lesson 1 pricking and booklet) costs $29.95 (was $48.95).
The owner had asked me to review them for her some time ago, and I told
her that while the tape was one of the best and most professionally
done I had seen, the cost of the book and the tape were so far out of
line that I didn't think they would be bought by anyone locally. I
guess she found out that I was right, because there are only five left,
and I just got the sixth, which I suspect was her original order.

However, this might very well be of interest to anyone wanting to learn
the basics of Cantu. As I said, the tape is excellent, and the book is
equally good, with ten different prickings and nice historical
material. If you are interested, the Halcyon web site is
<www.halcyonyarn.com>. I checked it out, but didn't find the Cantu
books listed. They were in a quiet little pile in a rather dark corner,
so maybe they just didn't make it to the website. Email me personally
if you need more information.

As a disclaimer, I am not involved with Halcyon at all, other than to
be a good customer and try to help them understand what bobbin lace is
all about and what they might want to stock for lace supplies. They
deal mostly in weaving supplies and all kinds of yarns for knitting and
so on. But I thought someone might want to know about these books.
