The site claims the webs are crochet. On the web page of the artist there is
a piece which appears to me to be crochet, but is called "knitted".
The Style section of the New York Times this Sunday contained 14 pictures of
airy white attire all characterized as crochet by the editor, although one
was clearly knitted and another appeared to be candlewicking. The lace jacket I
wore to give my talk in at the convention was called crochet in the catalog,
 although it clearly was not.
There is shocking lace illiteracy going on, even is respectable
publications. When will people come to their senses and see the need for the
hiring of
lace consultants to avoid embarrassing gaffes such as these?
The other day my daughter and I saw a lacy vest where some of the panels
were sewn upside down so that the relief was on the inside of the vest.
Professional lace consultancy could have prevented this tragedy! I imagine they
 will
all end up on the sale table and no one will ever realize why :-)
