Hi Sally It diffenly can be done, I have a big lillac tree in my garden it is going to be cut down and I am going to make bobbins out of it. Also I have a chestnut that has to be cut down, also god to make bobbins of, There is some very big bushes to, that is threeish, I will be using them to.
